Slough Bus Station official opening

Slough’s new bus station was formally opened in June 2011 with performances from an array of local talent. The event got under way with a welcome speech by the Mayor of Slough, Councillor Sukhjit Dhaliwal, who thanked everyone for their hard work in getting the iconic new facility up and running. This was followed by the official cutting of the ribbon by Councillor James Swindlehurst, commissioner for regeneration and renewal, and MP for Slough, Fiona Mactaggart.

Then it was time for the real fun to begin. The entertainment kicked off with a performance from the Slough Schools Choir, made up of primary school children from across the borough. They sang a moving repertoire of songs written especially to celebrate the Heart of Slough project and the opening of the new bus station. This was followed by a colourful dance from Apna Virsa, Punjabi singing from the ladies at Milan Centre and a local rapper from Slough Young People’s Centre.
